Homework Club

The Pauquachin Homework club is for all students in Grade 1 -12.
Students have their own personal binders with extra work sheets that are at their grade level. The main focus for their binder work is literacy and numeracy.

At the homework club, our students have the routine of:

  • Coming in from the school bus and getting settled in at the hall.
  • Grade 6 and up will work in the classroom and grade 1-5 will be in the main hall.
  • All students will work on the following:
    • Homework from school
    • Work sheets in the students binder
    • Reading a book
    • Snack
    • Group game

Reach for the Stars Sticker Chart

The students all have their own sticker chart and each time the finish a homework sheet or a sheet for their binder or have silent reading for 20 minutes they earn a sticker. When the students earn 6 stickers they get to choose a prize from the prize bin. When the student completes the entire chart they get to choose a prize from the big prizes.

Tutoring Program

The tutoring program runs on Mondays and Wednesdays each week, students that have registered are paired up with a tutor to work in a one on one setting for one hour with a tutor. The students work on their homework with the tutor or work from their binders. Students also read and play a board game or card game with the tutor. The tutors keep track of what the student wok on and we can track the students’ progress as well. Currently the tutoring program is full and searching for more volunteer tutors that can work with the students that are on the waiting list.
